After clinching the team championship last year, Haupt Racing Team is continuing its engagement in the ADAC GT Masters. Reigning ADAC GT Masters champion Salman Owega and David Schumacher (both GER) form one of the powerful driver pairings. Youngsters Finn Wiebelhaus (GER) and Kwanda Mokoena (RSA) are also set for the highly competitive racing series.

Last autumn, the Haupt Racing Team celebrated the team championship in the ADAC GT Masters at the Hockenheimring. For the 2024 season, HRT is continuing its concept of promoting young talent and at the same time positioning itself with a strong driver duo in the highly competitive championship.

With Salman Owega, the Haupt Racing Team has signed the reigning ADAC GT Masters drivers‘ champion. The Cologne-born driver will switch to HRT’s Mercedes-AMG GT3. Owega, who is just 18 years old, gained his first experience in GT3 racing in 2021 and was successful in various prestigious GT racing series in the following years. Owega celebrated a sporting highlight last season when he won the drivers‘ championship in the ADAC GT Masters.

David Schumacher also joins the Haupt Racing Team and will contest the upcoming ADAC GT Masters season together with Owega. The 22-year-old Mercedes-AMG junior driver switched from single-seater racing to sports cars in 2022 and has since been primarily active in the DTM and the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe. With strong performances, Schumacher secured third place in the championship last year in the gold classification of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup.

With Owega and Schumacher, the Haupt Racing Team has a promising driver duo in the ADAC GT Masters and is ideally positioned for the title fight in the 2024 season. HRT will continue to focus on the promotion of young talent. The two young drivers Finn Wiebelhaus and Kwanda Mokoena have also been confirmed as starters in the ADAC GT Masters. Both drivers are already completing a pre-season programme for the ADAC GT Masters together with HRT.

The new class structure of the ADAC GT Masters will place greater emphasis on young talent and amateur drivers in the future. With the Pro-Am Cup, Silver Cup and Am Cup, the ADAC GT Masters is creating an interesting platform for drivers with FIA Silver and Bronze classifications. Cash and non-cash prizes as well as support from the ADAC through the „Road to DTM“ concept for the best young drivers round off the attractive package.

This year, the ADAC GT Masters will once again comprise a total of twelve races at six events. The ADAC GT Masters and the DTM will be racing together four times. The ADAC GT Masters protagonists will have their first clash at the season opener in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben from 26th to 28th April.

Salman Owega, Haupt Racing Team: „After my championship last year, to now compete in the ADAC GT Masters with the most successful team of the previous season is a great opportunity for me. With David, I have a strong partner at my side. I think we have a good overall package to play a role in the championship.“

David Schumacher, Haupt Racing Team: „I’m very excited about my first season with HRT in the ADAC GT Masters. The racing series has a long and successful history. HRT has also been a constant in the past, not only in the ADAC GT Masters but also in other series. The competition will be very strong this season. We will do our best to have a successful year together.“

Ulrich Fritz, Chief Executive Officer Haupt Racing Team: „Winning the team championship in our debut year in the ADAC GT Masters has confirmed our concept of offering young talents a platform in this series. With David and Salman, we have been able to attract two more talented drivers who also have a considerable amount of experience and successes to show for themselves. We think that synergies with our youngsters Finn Wiebelhaus and Kwanda Mokoena will also be created here and that a powerful and victorious squad can be formed. We will do everything we can to promote their development and compete for victories.“
